Beef Stroganoff Recipe

Ingredients
2 lbs (900 g) filet of beef
3 tbsp (45 ml) flour
1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
1/4 tsp (1 ml) pepper
3 tbsp (45 ml) vegetable shortening
3 onions, thinly sliced
1/2 Cup (125 ml) tomato juice
10 oz (284 ml) canned beef consomme
1/2 tsp (2 ml) sugar
1/2 Cup (125 ml) sour cream
1/2 1b (250 g) mushrooms, sliced
3 tbsp (45 ml) Burgundy wine (optional)
Directions
– Cut filet of beef into thin strips, dredge beef strips with flour, salt and pepper, or with seasoned flour.
– In a skillet, melt vegetable shortening and saute beef strips with onions.
– Add tomato juice, beef consomme and sugar.
– Reduce heat and let mixture simmer until beef is tender.
– Blend in sour cream, mushrooms, and wine and heat but do not boil.
