Beef Strips with Orange and Ginger Recipe
Ingredients
| 450 g / 1 lb lean beef rump, fillet or sirloin, cut into thin strips | ||
| Finely grated rind and juice of 1 orange | ||
| 15 ml / 1 tbsp light soy sauce | ||
| 5 ml / 1 tsp cornflour | ||
| 2.5 cm / 1 in piece root ginger, finely chopped | ||
| 10 ml / 2 tsp sesame oil | ||
| Carrot | 1 Large, cut into thin strips | |
| Onions spring | 2 , thinly sliced | |
Directions
1. Place the beef strips in a bowl and sprinkle over the orange rind and juice. If possible, leave to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
2. Drain the liquid from the meat and set aside, then mix the meat with the soy sauce, cornflour and ginger.
3. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan and add the beef. Stir-fry for 1 minute until lightly coloured, then add the carrot and stir-fry for a further 2-3 minutes.
4. Stir in the spring onions and reserved liquid, then cook, stirring, until boiling and thickened. Serve hot with rice noodles or plain boiled rice.
