Simple Beef Goulash Recipe

Ingredients
2 tablespoons shortening or oil, divided
2 1/2 pounds beef top round, floured divided
2 medium onions
1/2 garlic clove, minced
1 bay leaf
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 tablespoon paprika
1 can tomatoes
1 can tomato paste
1 1/2 cups water
1 packet beef soup mix
Salt and pepper
Directions
Heat large Browning Skillet in Radarange oven 4 1/2 minutes.
Add half the oil and half floured beef cubes.
Cook in oven 2 minutes, stir after one minute.
Put beef in 2 1/2 quart covered casserole.
Wipe skillet out with paper towel, heat 2 1/2 minutes in the oven.
Add the rest of the oil and floured beef.
Cook 2 minutes, stir after one minute.
Add to casserole dish along with remaining ingredients; season to taste.
Cover; cook in oven on defrost or slow cook cycle, 30 minutes.
Stir.
Cook another 30 minutes, till meat is fork tender.
