Beef Dill Birds Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 pounds round steak, cut 1/2 inch thick | ||
| Flour | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3 medium dill pickles, cut lengthwise | ||
| Water | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Bay Leaf | 1 | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| Bacon Slices | 3 , cut in half | |
| Fat | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 1/4 cup liquid from dill pickles | ||
Directions
Cut steak into 6 servings.
Combine salt, pepper, and flour, and pound into steak until it is 1/4 inch thick.
Place 1/2 slice of bacon on each piece.
Roll beef and bacon around pickle slice.
Fasten with toothpicks.
Brown rolls in fat in a large skillet.
Pour off fat.
Add water, liquid from pickles and bay leaf.
Cover tightly and cook slowly 1 1/2 hours or until tender.
Should liquid mixture cook out, add another 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of liquid from dill pickles.
Remove rolls from pan to heated serving platter.
Spoon any liquid left in pan over the rolls.
