Ingredients

 
Cooking oil 15ml
 
Stewing steak, cubed 1Kg
 
Streaky bacon, chopped 100g
 
Flour 30ml
 
Red wine 300ml
 
Brandy 30ml
 
Stock 150ml
 
Thyme good pinch
 
Bay leaf 1
 
Garlic, crushed 1 clove
 
Shallots or tiny onions, whole 10-12
 
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Heat the oil in a large pan and fry the beef and bacon until lightly browned.
Add the flour and gently stir in the wine and brandy.
Add the remaining ingredients and season well.
Bring to the boil and transfer to Slow cooker.
Cook for the recommended time.
Remove bay leaf before serving.
