Beef and Macaroni Mix Up Recipe
Ingredients
| 2 pounds of round steak, cut into 1-inch cubes | ||
| Salt | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 cup of grated, sharp, aged | ||
| Cheddar cheese | ||
| Breadcrumbs | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 2 , beaten | |
| Vegetable oil | 2 Cup (16 tbs) (For frying) | |
| 1 pound of elbow macaroni, cooked very al dente, drained | ||
| Sour cream | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Sprinkle the meat cubes with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.
Dredge the meat cubes with half of the grated cheese, then with the breadcrumbs.
Dip them into the beaten egg, then dredge again with the breadcrumbs.
In a fryer or deep saucepan, heat the oil to a sizzling 375 degrees.
(Use enough oil so that the meat cubes will be completely immersed in hot oil when frying.) Fry a few pieces of meat at a time, for about 1 minute each, or until golden.
Drain the meat on paper towel.
In a buttered casserole, layer the cooked macaroni, sprinkling it with the remaining salt, pepper, and cheese.
Mask the layer with the sour cream.
Arrange the steak cubes on top.
Bake, uncovered, in a 400-degree oven for 15 minutes or until the sour cream starts to bubble.
