GETTING READY
1 In a large stock pot put the ham bone and cover with enough water.
2 Bring it to a boil and lower the heat.
3 Let simmer, covered for about 2 hours.
4 Carefully remove the ham bones from the stock.

MAKING
5 Add the onions to the stock.
6 Add in the navy beans and stir well.
7 Bring to a boil and lower the heat.
8 Let simmer for an hour.
9 Meanwhile, remove the meat from the reserved ham bone and cut into cubes.
10 Add it to the simmering soup and let cook.
11 Add some bouillon for added flavor.

SERVING
12 Serve the soup in individual bowls.
