Bavarian Red Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients
| Head Red Cabbage – ½ pound, | ||
| Butter or Bacon Drippings – 3 tablespoons | ||
| Onion – 1, minced | ||
| Apples – 1 large, peeled and diced | ||
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vinegar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brown sugar | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Cloves – 5 whole | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1) Using a mandolin, shred the cabbage finely
MAKING
2) In a saucepan, melt some butter and add the cabbage
3) In a small frying pan, sauté the onion on a low flame till transparent
4) Add the sautéed onion, water, vinegar, sugar, cloves and salt to the cabbage
5) Toss everything to combine
6) Cover the saucepan with a lid and cook till the cabbage is wilted
7) Take off the lid in the last 20 minutes
SERVING
8) Serve the cabbage alongside a meat dish as an accompaniment
