Bavarian Village Bread Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 large loaf French bread
 
1 pound cooked ham, minced
 
1 pound cooked corned beef, minced
 
1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
 
1/3 cup chopped red pimentos
 
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
 
3/4 cup butter, softened
 
Salt and pepper, to taste
 
2 large celery sticks, trimmed to fit into french bread

Directions

Cut French bread in half (widthwise, not lengthwise).
Using a long, slender knife, hollow out 3/4 of the soft interior bread in each half.
Save soft bread for other uses.
Mix all remaining ingredients together except the celery.
Stand each bread half on end and pack firmly with stuffing.
Push a celery stick down into each half until it is completely covered.
Tightly wrap each loaf in foil and freeze until hard.
