Glazed Bath Buns Recipe
Ingredients
| Plain flour | 1 Pound | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| 3 oz. fat—margarine and lard | ||
| Good 1/2 oz. yeast | ||
| Sugar | 3 Ounce | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| 1 1/2-2 gills warm milk | ||
| GLAZE | ||
| 1 tablesp. Water | ||
| 1 dessertsp. Sugar | ||
Directions
Mix salt with warmed flour and rub in fat.
Mix in most of the sugar.
Mix to a light dough with yeast creamed with remainder of sugar, egg and milk.
Put to rise till double its size, then knead lightly.
Divide into 24 pieces and shape each 3 1/2—4 in long and 1 in wide.
Place fairly close together (so that they join up in baking) on greased baking-sheets and prove 15 min
Bake in a hot oven (425° F., Gas 7) 10-15 min.
To make the glaze—boil together the water and sugar until slightly syrupy.
Brush the buns immediately they come from the oven so that the syrup dries on.
Dredge thickly with castor sugar.
Break buns apart before serving.
