Basic White Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
2 tbsp (30 mL) butter or bacon fat
2 tbsp (30 mL) flour
1 cup (250 mL) milk or consomme
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Place butter or bacon fat in a microwave-safe bowl and melt 40 seconds at HIGH.
Add the flour, stir until well mixed.
Add the milk or consomme.
Stir.
Microwave 2 minutes at HIGH.
Stir well.
Season to taste.
If necessary, microwave another minute at MEDIUM.
Add the flour, stir until well mixed.
Add the milk or consomme.
Stir.
Microwave 2 minutes at HIGH.
Stir well.
Season to taste.
