BASIC PILAU Recipe

Whenever I have Indian friends visiting, I always prepare Basic Pilau which is the most savored dish of their cuisine. This Basic Pilau is a lovely way in which you can express your gratitude to your aunts, moms, grandparents and friends for teaching you recipes. Try it out!

Ingredients
2 cups rice
2 tblspn, shredded onion
2 tblspn, oil
2 whole cardamons
1/2 tspn, cumin seeds
5 cups water
2 tspn, salt
'1 stick cinnamon
2 whole cloves
Directions
Boil the well washed rice in rapidly boiling water with the spices.
When the rice is nearly done, drain and dry in colander.
Add 3 tblspn, cold water and return to the pot and steam for 10 minutes on low heat.
Just before serving fry onions in oil to a golden brown and sprinkle over rice.
While cooking, the lid of pot must be shut tightly so that moisture does not evaporate too rapidly and aromas do not escape.
