Basic Nut Bread Recipe
Ingredients
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 eggs
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup chopped nuts
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
Cream together sugar and butter; stir in eggs, buttermilk and vanilla.
Add flour, nuts, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt, stirring only until flour is moistened.
Spoon batter into 9"x5"x3" greased glass loaf dish, bottom lined with wax paper.
Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Shield ends of dish with 3-inch strip of foil, mold foil around dish.
Cook at LOW 10 minutes and at MEDIUM-HIGH 3 to 5 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
Let stand, uncovered, 15 minutes.
Invert and remove wax paper; let stand 5 minutes.
Store, covered, until ready to serve.
