Basic Bread Crumb Stuffing Recipe
Ingredients
1 small onion, chopped
1 stalk celery with leaves, chopped
1/3 to 1/2 cup butter
1 to 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning or sage
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
5 cups stale bread cubes or crumbs
Water, milk or giblet broth (optional)
Directions
1. Saute the onion and celery in the butter until tender but not brown.
2. Combine the seasonings and the bread crumbs, toss together with the onion mixture and, if a moist dressing is desired, add enough liquid to barely moisten crumbs.
