Ingredients
2 broilers-fryers (1 1/2 to 2 lbs. each)
2 teaspoons salt
Barbecue Sauce or Currant-Mustard Glaze
Directions
Remove spit from grill before building fire.
Clean chickens; rinse and pat dry with absorbent paper.
Rub cavities of birds with salt.
Skewer neck skin to back; tuck wings under.
Carefully insert spit lengthwise through both birds.
Be sure they are well balanced on spit for even turning.
Tie drumsticks to spit.
Brush chickens with Barbecue Sauce or glaze.
Grill 8 inches from coals, turning frequently.
Baste often with the sauce.
