Ingredients
2 (2 1/2- to 3-pound) chickens
1 tablespoon lemon-pepper seasoning
1 tablespoon seasoned pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Savory Barbecue Sauce
Directions
Sprinkle chickens with seasonings.
Soak mesquite or oak chips in water 1 to 2 hours.
Prepare fire in grill, let burn until coals are white.
Rake coals to one end of grill; place wood chips over hot coals.
Place chickens at opposite end; cover with lid, and cook 45 minutes or until skin begins to turn brown and a little crusty.
Baste chickens with Savory Barbecue Sauce, continue cooking an additional 1 hour and 45 minutes, basting every 30 minutes.
