Barbecued Shrimp Recipe

This Barbecued Shrimp recipe is easily right at the top of my most loved recipe list. If it is an impressive Main Dish that you require, then this dish is the answer. The main ingredient in this recipe is Shrimp. I am certain you and I will approve that this Barbecued Shrimp is just delectable.

Ingredients

 
1 pound large shrimp, shelled and deveined
 
1 egg white
 
2 teaspoons cornstarch
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1 cap vegetable oil
 
1 cup finely chopped yellow onions
 
1 teaspoon curry powder
 
1/4 teaspoon sugar
 
1/4 teaspoon Chinese chili powder
 
1/4 cup whipping or heavy cream
 
2 tablespoons American-style barbecue sauce or satay sauce
 
1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced
 
1/2 cap brandy, optional

Directions

Rinse shrimp and pat dry with paper towels.
Combine egg white, cornstarch and salt in medium bowl.
Add shrimp and stir to coat well.
Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
Heat oil in wok or large skillet over medium-high heat to 375°F.
Add shrimp, one at a time (cook only about 1/2 of shrimp at a time), and cook until golden, about 2 minutes.
Drain on paper towels.
Remove all but 2 tablespoons oil from wok.
Add onions, curry powder, sugar and chili powder; stir-fry 2 minutes.
Add shrimp; stir-fry 1 minute.
Add cream and barbecue sauce; cook and stir 1 minute.
Stir in red pepper and remove from heat.
Arrange shrimp on serving platter and spoon sauce over shrimp.
If desired, heat brandy in small saucepan and pour into small metal bowl on serving platter.
Carefully ignite brandy with long wooden match.
Hold shrimp over flame for a few seconds.
