Barbecue Stew Recipe

Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds beef cubes (1 1/2 inch)
2 tablespoons shortening
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth
1/2 cup water
1 cup sliced onion
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 large clove garlic, minced
Dash hot pepper sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
Generous dash pepper
1 small green pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
1 1/2 cups thickly sliced mushrooms (about 1/4 pound)
Tomato wedges
Directions
In skillet., brown meat in shortening; pour off fat.
Add broth, water, onion, ketchup, mustard, garlic, hot pepper sauce, and seasonings.
Cover; cook over low heat 2 hours.
Add green pepper and mushrooms; cook 30 minutes more or until meat is tender.
Stir now and then.
Thicken if desired.
Garnish with tomato.
