Ingredients

 
2 bananas
 
4 tablespoons vanilla ice cream
 
4 tablespoons double cream, whipped
 
2 teaspoons chopped nuts
 
1 glace cherry, halved sauce:
 
15 g (1/2 oz) plain chocolate
 
1 tablespoon warm water
 
50 g(2 oz)soft brown sugar
 
1 teaspoon golden syrup
 
2-3 drops vanilla essence

Directions

Cut the bananas in half lengthways and sandwich the halves together with the ice cream.
Place on individual serving plates.
Spoon or pipe the cream on top and decorate with the nuts and cherry pieces.
To make the sauce: Melt the chocolate with the water in a basin standing over a pan of hot water.
Transfer to a saucepan and add the sugar and syrup.
Heat gently, stirring, until the sugar has dissolved.
Bring to the boil and boil steadily, without stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes.
Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
Pour the sauce over the banana splits or hand separately.
