Banana Filled Orange Layer Cake Recipe
Ingredients
| 3/4 cup soft butter or margarine | ||
| Sugar | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg yolks | 8 | |
| Grated rind of 1/2 orange | ||
| Cake flour | 2 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking powder | 2 3/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Milk | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Fluffy White Frosting | ||
| Ripe bananas | 5 | |
Directions
Cream butter well; add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy.
Beat egg yolks until thick; add with rind to creamed mixture.
Mix all sifted dry ingredients together and add alternately with milk, beating until smooth.
Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round layer-cake pans.
Bake in pre-heated moderate oven (375° F.) for about 20 minutes.
Cool for 5 minutes; turn out on racks.
Spread part of frosting and some sliced bananas between layers.
Use remaining frosting on top and sides.
Decorate top with a circle of sliced bananas.
