Banana Bran Bread Recipe

Ingredients
| Shortening | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Honey | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 3/4 cup Elam's Bran | ||
| Eggs | 2 | |
| 1 cup ripe banana pulp | ||
| All purpose flour | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 2 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Thoroughly blend the first five ingredients in a bowl.
Sift together and add flour, baking powder and salt.
Pour into a greased 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour, until done.
Cool on wire rack.

I've made this recipe dozens of times over the years. It's in the 1979 book, "Best recipes from the backs of boxes, bottles, cans, and jars", by Ceil Dyer. In the book it says that Elam's had this recipe on its packaging for over a decade...so that would be around 1969.
