Baking-powder Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup (approximately) milk
Directions
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into mixing bowl.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture has texture of quick-cooking oatmeal.
Add milk; stir with fork to make soft dough.
An extra tablespoon of milk may be used if mixture seems too stiff.
Place on lightly floured board, and knead gently 8â€â€10 times.
Roll or pat dough to desired thickness, and cut with floured cutter.
Pat leftover dough together, and cut again.
Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet, close together for soft-sided biscuits or about 1 inch apart for crusty ones.
Bake 12â€â€15 minutes at 450°F.
