Baking Powder Biscuits Recipe

 Shortening1/3 Cup (16 tbs)

 Milk3/4 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

1. Cut shortening into flour, baking powder and salt with pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in just enough milk so dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball. (Too much milk makes dough sticky, not enough makes biscuits dry.)
2. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly 10 times. Roll 1/2 inch thick. Cut with floured 2-inch biscuit cutter. Arrange 6 biscuits with sides almost touching in circle on 10-inch plate lined with 2 paper towels; brush tops of biscuits with Paprika Topping. Microwave uncovered on high (100%) 1 minute; rotate plate 1/2 turn. Microwave until no longer doughy, 1 to 2 minutes longer. Let stand 1 minute; remove to rack. Repeat with remaining biscuits.
