Baked Plum Pudding Recipe
Baked plum pudding is a delightful dessert made with fruits like apples and cherries. Goodies like raisins, currants and citron pieces also go into this baked pudding. Baked with milasses, milk and brown sugar, the plum pudding is a heavy bodied and fulfilling family dessert.
Ingredients
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1 small wedge lemon
Rind of 1/2 orange
1/4 cup citron pieces
1/4 cup candied cherries
1/2 cup blanched almonds
2 medium apples, cored, peeled and quartered
3 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup raisins
1 cup currants
1 cup suet, cut up
2/3 cup milk
1 cup light molasses
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
Heat oven to 300°.
Grease a 2 quart casserole.
Sift flour and soda together into a large mixing bowl.
Add raisins and currants and set aside.
Blender chop the suet in the Osterizer container 1/2 cup at a time.
Add to flour mixture.
Put milk, molasses, sugar, salt, nutmeg, cloves, lemon and orange rind into Osterizer container, cover and process at BLEND until smooth.
Stop and add the citron, cherries, almonds and apples, cover and CYCLE/CHOP.
Pour into flour mixture and stir well.
Pour into prepared casserole, cover tightly, and bake 2 hours.
Serve warm with vanilla or hard sauce.
