Baked Nutmeg Custard Recipe

Ingredients

 
3 slightly beaten eggs
 
1/4 c. sugar
 
1/4 tsp. salt
 
2 c. milk, scalded
 
1 tsp. vanilla
 
Nutmeg to taste

Directions

Combine eggs, sugar and salt.
Cool milk slightly.
Stir milk and vanilla into egg mixture gradually.
Set six 5-ounce custard cups in shallow pan on oven rack.
Pour hot water 1 inch deep around cups.
Pour in custard; sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake in 325-degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until knife inserted into center comes out clean.
Serve warm or chilled.
