Baked Hominy And Cheese Recipe
Baked hominy and cheese is a filling and healthy recipe. Made along with tomatoes and breadcrumbs, the baked hominy with cheese is spiced with cloves and very savory. Paired with a side of choice, this a complete home meal.
Ingredients
| Canned tomatoes | 2 Cup (16 tbs), strained | |
| Onion | 2 Tablespoon, chopped | |
| Cloves | 2 | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Cayenne | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
| 3 tablespoons butter or fat | ||
| Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 2 1/2 cups cooked hominy | ||
| 1/2 cup mild grated cheese | ||
| Bread crumbs | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Simmer tomatoes, onion, cloves, salt, sugar, and cayenne 20 minutes; strain.
Melt 2 tablespoons butter; blend with flour.
Add strained tomato juice; bring slowly to boil, stirring constantly.
Put layer of hominy in greased baking dish; add layer of cheese.
Add layer of tomato sauce; repeat until all are used.
Spread top with crumbs; dot with butter.
Bake in 425 °F oven 20 minutes or until crumbs are brown
