Baked Swiss Fondue Recipe
Ingredients
| 7 or 8 thin slices day-old white bread | ||
| Butter or margarine | ||
| Eggs | 2 | |
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Dry mustard | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Paprika | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cayenne pepper | 1 Pinch | |
| Milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 6 ounces natural Swiss cheese | ||
Directions
About 1 hour and 15 minutes before supper:
1. Start heating oven to 350°F.
2. Remove crusts from bread; butter bread; cut into strips about 1 inch wide. Use to line bottom, then sides, of a buttered 9-by-5-by-3-inch glass loaf pan, placing strips 1/2 inch apart, with side pieces extending a bit above top of pan.
3. In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat eggs lightly; add salt, mustard, paprika, cayenne, milk, then Swiss cheese, cut into 1/4-inch cubes. Pour mixture into loaf pan.
4. Bake 35 minutes, or until golden.
