1 three pound pumpkin
 
1/4 cup butter
 
1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed

Directions

1. Preheat oven to moderate (350° F.).
2. Halve the pumpkin. Remove the seeds and stringy portion. Cut into two-inch diamonds. Pare each piece, then score deeply.
3. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the remaining ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves.
