Baked Pork Chops Recipe
Ingredients
| Olive oil | 2 Tablespoon | |
| 6 loin or rib pork chops, 3/4-inch (2-cm) thick | ||
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 onion, chopped fine | ||
| Green pepper | 1 Small, diced | |
| Mushrooms | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Tomato sauce | 1 8 Ounce | |
| Thyme | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Bay leaf | 1 , crumbled | |
| Pinch of mace | ||
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
In an iron frying pan, melt the butter or heat the olive oil.
Rub one side of each chop with a bit of the teaspoon of sugar.
Brown this side first.
Brown the chops in the hot fat over high heat.
Arrange the chops, as they are browned, in a shallow 10 x 6 x 2-inch (25 x 15 x 5-cm) casserole dish.
Salt and pepper to taste.
To the fat remaining in the pan, add the onion and green pepper, stir 3 to 4 minutes over medium heat.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Taste for seasoning.
Bring to a boil and pour over the chops.
Cover the dish with a foil and bake one hour in the preheated oven.
Serve with rice or fine noodles.
