Baked Irish Ham Recipe
This Baked Irish Ham recipe is simply one of the best ! I tried this last Christmas and everyone loved it. It is no wonder that they asked me to make it again and again over the year! Try the Baked Irish Ham for yourself!
Ingredients
1 4 pound center cut of ham
8 cups flour
2 1/2 cups water
Directions
Soak the ham overnight. (By the way, never remove the bone from ham it adds so much to the flavor and enables the joint to cook through to the center.)
Mike a stiff paste of the flour and water and completely envelop the ham in this.
Make, sure there are no holes or cracks.
Bake in a moderate oven (350°) for 2 hours, or until the crust is nicely browned.
Allow to cool for a half hour before removing the crust.
Discard the crust.
This is more successful than baking in aluminum foil, though the principle is the same.
The protective crust keeps the ham from cooking too fast.
