Baked Cinnamon Apples Recipe
Ingredients
| Apples | 6 | |
| Firmly packed light brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/2 cup raisins or currants | ||
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| 1 tsp grated orange or lemon rind | ||
| Butter | 1 Tablespoon, softened | |
| Water | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
Wash and dry apples.
Carefully cut around core of each apple without cutting through to bottom; remove core.
Make 1/2-inch (1 cm) deep cuts around middle of each apple in 3 or 4 places to allow apples to expand while cooking.
In small bowl, mix together sugar, raisins, cinnamon and orange rind.
Spoon mixture into each apple, dividing it equally.
Top each apple with about 1/2 tsp (2 mL) butter.
Place apples in baking dish just large enough to hold all of them in a single layer.
Pour water down side of pan, not directly over apples.
Bake, uncovered, in 350°F (180°C) oven for 30 to 45 minutes or until apples are tender when pierced with fork. (Cooking time varies with size and type of apple so start testing for doneness after 30 minutes of baking.)
Serve warm.
