Baked Bonbons Recipe
Ingredients
| Pitted dates | 2 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| California walnuts | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg whites | 3 | |
| Sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla extract | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Food coloring | ||
Directions
Grind dates and nuts together twice and shape into 72 small balls.
Beat egg whites until they begin to hold their shape.
Gradually add sugar and continue beating until mixture is stiff but not dry.
Add vanilla and divide into halves.
Tint half pink and half green.
With a teaspoon roll date balls in meringue and put on greased cookie sheets.
Swirl top of each.
Bake in preheated very slow oven (250°F.) for 30 minutes.
