Main Ingredient

Jelly rolls6 (6-Inch Size, With Raspberry Or Strawberry Flavor Filling)
 Sweet sherry8 Teaspoon
 Strawberry jam8 Teaspoon
 Scoops of strawberry ice cream4
 Egg whites3
 Sugar1 Cup (16 tbs)

1) Preheat oven to temperature of 425 degrees.

2) Cut the jelly roll across into 4 slices and place each slice on a small heatproof serving dish, keeping the cut side down.
3) Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of sherry over each slice and then spread with 2 teaspoons of jam. Top the slices with 1 scoop of ice cream each and smooth down.
4) Transfer the prepared slices to a cookie sheet and freeze for about 10 minutes.
5) In the meantime, beat the egg whites in a clean, dry bowl till they are stiff and standing in peaks.
6) Add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, and continue to beat till the meringue is glossy and stiff.
7) In a large pastry bowl fitted with a large star tip, put the meringue.
8) From the freezer, remove the cookie sheet.
9) Over each dessert slice, pipe the meringue. Ensure that the cake and ice cream are completely covered. Take the meringue right down onto the serving dish, at the base of each slice of the dessert.
10) Return the slices to the freezer for some more time. Till this step, the Alaskas can be prepared beforehand and stored in the freezer for up-to 24 hours.
11) Bake the Alaskas, which are still on the cookie sheet, in the preheated oven for about 4 minutes, till the meringue is tinged with brown hue.

12) Transfer the freshly baked Alaskas to a decorative serving platter and serve right away. These make an excellent dessert.
