Spiced Baked Apples Recipe
Summary
Ingredients
| Baking apples | 4 Large | |
| 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar | ||
| Ground cinnamon | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg or mace | ||
| Butter/Margarine | 4 Tablespoon | |
| 1/4 cup dark rum or apple juice or water | ||
Directions
1. Core apples, but leave a small piece of the core attached at the base of the blossom end so that the filling will not run out. With a sharp paring knife, cut a hairline circle around the middle of the apple, cutting just deeply enough to go through the skin to the flesh. Arrange apples in an 8-inch square glass baking dish. Fill cores with brown sugar, sprinkling any excess sugar on top of the apples. Dust tops of the apples with spices. Place 1 tablespoon butter on the top of each apple. Pour rum into the bottom of the baking dish. Cover.
2. Microwave at Time Cook (power level 10) for 7 to 10 minutes, or until apples are tender when pierced with a fork, rotating the dish 1/2 turn after 5 minutes' cooking time. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes before serving.
