Baked Alaska Recipe

Baked Alaska is a yummy dessert that will definitely be a winner at the next party you host. I served the Baked Alaska last week for my friends and they loved it. Don€™t miss this one out.

Ingredients

 
SPONGE CAKE
 
2 eggs
 
45 gms maida slightly less then
 
60 gms powdered sugar
 
1 tbsp boiling water
 
1 tsp vanilla essence 1/2 tsp baking powder
 
ALASKA
 
2 eggs
 
Sponge cake
 
2 cups vanilla ice cream
 
2 egg whites
 
1/3 cup powdered sugar

Directions

Sift maida with baking powder.
Beat egg whites in a dry pan till stiff.
Add sugar gradually, 2 tbsp at a time and keep beating after each addition till all the sugar is used.
Add essence.
Fold in the sifted maida carefully.
Pour in a greased and dusted cake tin of about 6" diameter.
Bake in preheated oven at200°C for 15-20 minutes.
Keep the cake aside in the refrigerator to chill.
Pack ice cream in a small bowl which is 1" smaller than the cake and freeze till firm.
Beat egg whites till stiff peaks are formed.
Add sugar gradually and keep beating till all the sugar is consumed.
Place the chilled cake on the back of a baking tray.
Unmould ice cream over it.
Cover the cake and ice cream with the stiffly beaten egg whites.
Keep in a very hot oven for 4-5 minutes till egg whites turn slightly brown.
Slip the Alaska in a serving plate and serve immediately.
