Ingredients

Avocado – 1, ripe

Tomato – 1 medium, diced

Green Onions – 3 stalks, finely chopped

Green Chili – 1 or to taste, finely chopped

Cilantro – 5 sprigs, finely chopped

Roasted Cumin Powder – ½ tsp

Black Pepper Powder – ¼ tsp

Salt – to taste

Lime/Lemon Juice – to taste

Directions

GETTING READY
1 Peel and cut the Avocado into cubes and set aside.

MAKING
2 In a bowl, combine green onions, tomatoes, cilantro, cumin powder, black pepper powder, green chilies and mix well.
3 Add in the Salt and Lemon/Lime Juice and mix again.
4 Gently mix in the diced Avocado, being very careful not to mash it.

SERVING
5 Serve in individual salad bowls.

TIP
If you have time, store in refrigerator for a half hour to chill and to let the onions and tomatoes marinate in the juices.

The shelf life of a peeled avocado is not very good, so make sure you finish the salad in a day or so.

Editors Review

Avocados are packed with healthy fats and their buttery texture is so delicious. Here, our chefs show a simple avocado salad with onion and tomato spiced up with Indian Spices. This recipe is perfect for heart patients who need healthy fat and tasty low fat food. I tried serving avocado dishes to my parents but they just refused to have it and in my last attempt to make them eat avocados I made avocado salad and they loved it.

Love salads and of course avocadoes which are plentiful here in California. Love cumin with avocadoes. I think I'll make this but add a little fresh minced garlic and chiles of course. This would be excellent with grilled/tandoor meats.
