Authentic Tomato Catsup Recipe

Mom used to make delicious catsup at home itself. This authentic tomato catsup is my tried and tested way to bringing back the olden days. Make it at home and you will love the difference you can make.

Ingredients

 
Ripe tomatoes-1 gallon, chopped
 
Salt-2 tablespoons
 
Sugar-2 cups
 
Red peppers-2 small, finely chopped
 
Dry mustard-1 tablespoon
 
Cloves-1 teaspoon, ground
 
Cinnamon-1 teaspoon
 
White pepper-1 1/2 teaspoons
 
Paprika-1/4 cup
 
White vinegar-2 cups

Directions

MAKING
1)Take a large heavy kettle and put tomatoes in it. Bring to boil, stirring constantly.
2)Decrease heat and let them simmer until soft.
3)Sieve the tomatoes into a puree.
4)Put the puree into the kettle and add salt, sugar, red peppers, mustard, cloves, cinnamon, white pepper and paprika. Mix and boil.
5)Decrease heat and let it simmer for an hour.
6)Stir in vinegar and simmer until thickened. Stir frequently.
7)Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal.

SERVING
8)Use the tomato catsup and when needed.
