 Butter1/2 Pound
 Brown sugar1/2 Pound
 Eggs5
 Rum4 Tablespoon
 Flour3/4 Pound
 Baking powder1/2 Teaspoon
 Fruit1 1/2 Pound, mixed
 Cherries1/4 Pound
 Lemon peel1/4 Pound
 Mixed spice1 Teaspoon
 Almonds

Directions

Line a 3 lb.
Christmas tin with 3 thicknesses of wax paper.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
Beat eggs well and gradually add to mixture.
Gradually add the rum.
Fold in the sifted flour, baking powder and spice alternately with the fruit.
Place in Christmas tin and decorate with split almonds.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Leave in tin until cold.
