Asparagus Ham Birds Recipe
I got this Asparagus Ham Birds recipe from my neighbor who is an excellent cook. You can serve Asparagus Ham Birds as a yummy Main Dish. Dish up this Asparagus Ham Birds for a meal today and see it simply vanish.
Ingredients
12 spears fresh or frozen asparagus, cooked and drained
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1 cup milk
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
4 slices leftover or boiled ham
1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Directions
Place butter in 1 -quart measure.
MICROWAVE on HIGH until butter melts.
Stir in flour, salt and mustard to make a smooth paste.
Gradually stir in milk.
MICROWAVE 2 MINUTES, 30 SECONDS to 3 MINUTES on HIGH, or until thickened, stirring once with a wire whip.
Stir a little of the hot mixture into egg yolks.
Blend warmed yolks into hot sauce.
Wrap each slice of ham around three asparagus spears, secure with wooden pick.
Arrange roll ups in shallow dish.
Pour white sauce over them.
MICROWAVE 4 to 5 MINUTES on '5', or until heated through.
Sprinkle with cheese.
