Asparagus Chinese Style Recipe
Ingredients
| Asparagus | 1 1/2 Pound | |
| 2 tablespoons vegetable or peanut oil | ||
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), peeled | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Chicken broth | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 tablespoon each cornstarch and cold water mixed with 2 tablespoons soy sauce | ||
| Black pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Directions
1. Break off the tough stem ends of the asparagus as far down as the stalks snap easily. Wash the asparagus thoroughly and cut the stalks at an angle into 1/2-inch slices.
2. Heat the oil in a 10- or 12-inch skillet, add the garlic, salt, and asparagus, and saute over moderate heat for 2 minutes.
3. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a boil.
4. Add the cornstarch, water, and soy sauce mixture, stir, and bring to a boil again. Stir for 1 minute, add the pepper, and serve at once.
