Apricot Straws Recipe
An empty belly is a great cook and apricot straws is a great way to fill it. Stock up on plenty of bags of fruits as you will want to make this apricot straws time and again. Ingredients
1/2 pound dried apricots
Hot water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Directions
Place the apricots in the top of a double boiler.
Add hot water from the tap to cover; let stand 5 minutes.
Drain off the water.
Set the pan over boiling water, cover and steam the apricots 5 minutes.
Spread out onto a large sheet of waxed paper, skin-side up.
Flatten each apricot with the palm of your hand.
Cut into 1/8-inch strips with scissors.
Roll in the sugar to coat.
Set aside on a separate sheet of waxed paper in a cool place until the straws dry somewhat and become stiff.
Store in a tightly covered container in a cool place.
