1 Cup Sifted All-purpose Flour
 
1/4 Cup Sugar
 
1/2 Cup Butter
 
1/3 Cup Sifted All-purpose Flour
 
1/2 Tsp. Baking Powder
 
1/2 Tsp. Salt
 
2 Eggs
 
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
 
1 Cup Firmly-packed Brown Sugar
 
1 1/2 Cups Dried Apricots, snipped
 
1 Cup Walnuts, medium chopped

Directions

First Part: Mix 1 cup flour with the sugar in a bowl.
Cut in the butter with pastry blender or two knives until the particles formed are the size of small peas.
Turn into a 9" x 9" x 2" baking pan and press firmly into an even layer over bottom of pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 min.
Second Part: Meanwhile, blend remaining 1/3 cup flour, the baking powder and salt; set aside.
Beat eggs with extract; add the brown sugar gradually, beating until thick.
Stir in the flour mixture, apricots & nuts.Remove pan from oven; turn the apricot mixture onto the layer in pan and spread evenly.
Return to the oven and continue baking 30 minutes.
Cool completely on wire rack before cutting into bars.
