 1 2-ounce envelope dessert topping mix
 1/2 cup chunk-style applesauce or 1/2 cup jellied cranberry sauce, cut into 1/4-inch cubes
 1 package gingerbread mix
 Chopped walnuts

Directions

GETTING READY
1. Preheat the oven
2. Grease a square baking tin with butter and line with butter paper.

MAKING
3. In a bowl, prepare the topping mixture according to package instructions.
4. Into the mixture, fold in the apple sauce or cranberry cubes.
5. Refrigerate filling until chilled.
6. Make the gingerbread according to package instructions.
7. Turn mixture into prepared baking tin.

FINALIZING
8. Bake the gingerbread in the preheated oven according to the package directions.
9. When golden brown, remove from the oven and cool in tin.
10. Cut into equal size squares.

SERVING
11. Top warm gingerbread squares with chilled prepared filling.
12. Garnish them with walnuts.
