Applesauce Spicecake Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter or other shortening- 1/2 cup | ||
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 2 Small, Well beaten | |
| Nuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Raisins | 1 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Cake flour | 2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted | |
| Baking soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Nutmeg | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Unsweetened applesauce | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Directions
GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 350F degrees
MAKING
2.In a bowl, cream shortening, now gradually add sugar and cream until fluffy
3.Also add eggs in thirds, beating well after each addition
4.Stir in nuts and raisins
5.Sift dry ingredients together; stir in alternately with applesauce, blending well
6.Pour into greased and lined 8 1/2 x 41/2 x 2 1/2 inch loaf pan
7.Bake for 1 hour
SERVING
8.Serve with tea

This may also be baked in 2 (9 inch) round layer pans about 25 minutes.
