Ingredients

 
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
 
2 eggs, beaten
 
2 tablespoons chopped onion
 
2 teaspoons salt
 
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg or allspice
 
3/4 cup rolled oats, regular or instant
 
1 cup apple sauce, fresh or canned
 
Topping
 
1 pared cored apple, cut in thin rings
 
1/4 cup brown sugar
 
1/4 teaspoon cloves
 
1 tablespoon water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Combine all ingredients for meat loaf.
Pack into 9 inch loaf pan.
Press apple rings, cut in half, into top of meat loaf.
Brush thoroughly with glaze made of brown sugar, cloves and water.
Wrap and refrigerate and bake when ready for use.
Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.
