Applesauce Torte Recipe
Ingredients
| Graham crackers | 24 , crushed | |
| Butter | 1/4 pound, melted | |
| Apples | 3 Pound | |
| Eggs | 6 , separated | |
| Sweetened condensed milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lemon juice | 3 Tablespoon | |
| 1 tablespoon grated lemon rind | ||
Directions
Mix crumbs and butter.
Line greased torte pan with half of mixture.
Pare apples, slice and cook with a little water to a thick sauce.
Mash.
Add beaten egg yolks, milk, lemon juice and rind and mix well.
Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Pour into crumb-lined pan, cover with remaining crumbs and bake in moderate oven (350°F.) until firm and lightly browned, 45 to 60 minutes.
Cool.
Serve with whipped cream.
