Ingredients

Ingredients for the Filling:

3 apples

8 dried figs

1/3 cup of sugar

2 tablespoons of butter

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder

1/3 cup of water

Ingredients for the Dough:

Puff Pastry (that you can find in the frozen section of the supermarket)

1 egg

Directions

Steps for making the Filling:
1- Peel and core the apples. Cut the figs into small pieces.
2- On medium heat, cook the apples and figs in butter with the sugar, cinnamon, and water. Stir from time to time.
3- When the apples are almost cooked, mash them with a fork until you get a smooth mixture.

Steps for rolling the Pastries:
1- Roll the puff pastry until medium thin. It has to be cold; otherwise, it becomes sticky.
2- Cut circles of dough using a cup or a cookie cutter. Separate the egg white from the egg yolk, and brush the edges of the dough with the egg white.
3- Put a teaspoon of filling in the middle of the dough circle, and close the dough creating a half-circle. Decorate the edges by pressing them with a fork.
4- Mix the remaining egg white with the egg yolk, and add 1/2 tablespoon of water. Brush the pastries with the egg wash.

Steps for baking the Pastries:
1- Preheat the oven to 400 F. Bake the pastries for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Serving:
Serve the pastries warm or cold. Enjoy!
