Apple-Topped Bread Pudding Recipe
Ingredients
| Milk | 4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Juice of 1 orange | ||
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Grated rind of 1 orange | ||
| Sugar | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 2 c. small dry bread cubes | ||
| Apples | 4 | |
| Cinnamon | ||
| 4 slightly beaten eggs | ||
Directions
Scald milk; add butter, salt and sugar.
Stir bread cubes into milk mixture; add eggs, vanilla, orange juice and rind.
Blend thoroughly; pour mixture into well-greased 8 x VI 1/2-inch baking dish.
Pare and core apples; arrange in rows over top of pudding.
Sprinkle apples with cinnamon; place baking dish in pan of hot water.
Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes or until inserted knife comes out clean.
