4-5 apples, unpeeled and cored
 
1 tablespoon lemon juice
 
1/4 cup sugar
 
I recipe Sweet Fritter Batter
 
1 tablespoon sugar
 
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

Slice apples crosswise 1/4—1/3 inch thick.
Sprinkle with lemon juice, and let stand, while preparing batter.
Dust slices with 1/4 cup'sugar; dip each in batter.
Shake off any excess batter and drop in deep fat preheated to 375 °F.
Cook 3—4 minutes, turning so that slices brown evenly.Keep fritters warm in 300°F. oven until all apple rings are cooked.
Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sug-ar and cinnamon, and serve as accompaniment for meat or as a dessert with Lemon Sauce or cream.
Note: Canned pineapple rings or apricot halves can be substituted for apples.
