Apple Dessert Recipe
Ingredients
| Rising flour | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Sugar | 2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Shortening | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Lemon peel | 1 Teaspoon, finely shredded | |
| Apples | 4 Medium, peeled | |
| Warm milk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 2 | |
| 1/4 cup brandy or whiskey | ||
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Grease and flour a 13x9x2-inch baking pan; set aside.
In a mixing bowl stir together the flour and sugar; cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in lemon peel.
Place half of the crumb mixture in bottom of prepared baking pan.
Cover with half of the sliced apples.
Top with the remaining crumb mixture, then remaining apples.
Beat together warm milk, eggs, brandy, and vanilla.
Pour over apple mixture in baking pan.
Bake in 350° oven about 1 hour or till golden and cake tests done.
Cool on wire rack 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
Cut into squares and serve with scoops of ice cream or dollops of whipped cream, if desired.
